Do you love your green leafy vegetables, colorful fruits, and perhaps red wine?  We all know foods full of antioxidants are great for us. Did you also know that our skin benefits greatly from antioxidants, as well? And that applying them topically does more for our skin than eating them?

Daily, our skin protects us against the elements: UV radiation from the sun, pollution, free oxygen radicals, you get the drift. We all know about protecting ourselves from the harmful rays of sun by wearing sunscreen, but you can up your skin protection and repair processes by adding topical antioxidants to your regimen. Specifically, antioxidants such as vitamin C, ferulic acid, and phloretin are potent skin protectors.  Need more proof? Vitamin C is a naturally occurring acid that is shown to not only help protect your skin against the bad players, it has also been clinically shown to help build collagen, the building blocks of our skin, help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and help decrease unwanted pigmentation.

If vitamin C is such a powerhouse, why isn’t it in EVERYTHING? Simply put, pure Vitamin C is very unstable and breaks down easily, therefore, it is frequently put into topicals at high concentrations or stabilized with other chemicals or additives. The issue? Higher levels of Vitamin C can be very irritating to the skin (think red, flaky, uncomfortable skin; not ideal). Also the added chemicals or can be irritating or potentially make things like acne worse, such as high levels of Vitamin E. That is why our Antioxidant Super Serum, available for sale on our website and Amazon, uses Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP), a naturally occurring water-soluble derivative of Vitamin C, which is powerful without being irritating. This paired with phloretin and ferulic acid packs a healthy punch for your skin!
